Participating in NaNoWriMo is a part of the culture of Sunflowers and Romance Publishing. It is a time for us to come together and put our hands to the plow to write the next best seller! Though we write books year round, this season of collaboration and support is very important for our authors to come together in labor hand-in-hand to put their books on paper. We are all in different places doing different things, but for this month we are all here together doi kg this particular month.
NaNoWriMo has a special place in my own heart. I started writing during NaNoWriMo in 2019, before I began to lose my vision. Before my heart was given over to wanting to write and edit full time. I never finished my 2020 project, and I’m glad for it. I’m glad to not have that work as a mark against me. The 2021 project was finished. But remains locked away never to be read. It was an erotic paranormal romance that I wanted so badly to honor Abba Yah with. I’m glad he arrested my heart before it made it to print. Love at Sukkot was given to me to write in 2022. I didn’t even plan to write that year, but under the persuasion of the Holy Spirit 8 out pen to paper.
This year‘s event is especially special, because we will be launching our first writing cohort this fall! I’m inviting at least 5 potential authors to join the mentorship program for a discounted price of $80. The 3-month program will take these authors from planning and pondering over the book they want to write to having a completed manuscript in hand. Not only that, we will begin to create a buzz about these books in the reader community.
I’m excited to begin to do with work with the authors Yah will send. As I sit down to pen book 2 in the Holy Day series, I’m even more excited to work with these authors on their own Christian tomance, fantasy, dystopian, and sci-fi books.
