Sell (More) Books Better

You’re trying to learn how to market and sell your book and you aren’t having a good time of it. The issue is that you aren’t revealing the VALUE in your book.

Your posts are likely something like “My name is ____. I wrote a book called ____. I want you to buy my book! (*whispering pretty please with tears in one eye)”

There are a few people who may buy your book because it’s you. But if you really want a return on your book investment you need strangers to buy your book. To do that, you need to reveal the value in your book.

“It’s just a book. That’s its value. If people will read my book they’ll see the value!”

I know, I get it. But that’s not how it works. As the author, you need to show how your book solves a problem in the world.

• Does it teach kids how to be clean?

• Does it encourage teens to be truthful?

• Does your fantasy world highlight issues in racism, classism, or societal structures?

• Does it bring awareness to an issue in the lives of new adults?

• Does it fulfill a niche in the market?

You may not know what the value is, but you should ponder it and consider sitting down with a marketing specialist (not me) or publisher (definitely me, lol) to help you fine tune that value to create a campaign to market that strategy.

This is the business of being an author that many people struggle with. You can choose how you invest in your book such as taking marketing courses, hiring a specialist to teach you, working with a hybrid publisher, checking out YouTube university, etc. Whatever you do, focus on the value of title.
